Industry: Automotive Engine Control Module Testing and Repair

Company Website: www.dieseltechchatt.com

Contact Person Name: Jonathan Ryan

Position Title: Electronics Repair Technician

Job Duties:

Primary Responsibility: Testing, Troubleshooting, Diagnosing and Repair of Automotive Engine and Fuel Injection Control Modules, including component level repairs and rework of surface mount and through hole devices, plus documenting findings, test results and work performed on online forms.

Secondary Responsibility: Shipping and receiving, emailing shipping labels to customers, processing online orders, unpacking orders received from customers, invoicing, packing and shipping completed orders. 60-70% of the day is electronics work, 30-40% is shipping related.

Machines Used: Soldering stations, hot air rework stations, microscopes, multi-meters, small hand tools, personal computer & printer, EEPROM programmers, engine control module programmers, ECM test benches. Could also include pedestal grinders & wire wheels for clearing parts, sandblasting cases and covers for the modules, and painting them.

We will provide complete training in all the above tasks and using all tools and equipment.

Required Attributes:

Relentless curiosity about how things work.

Enjoy fixing things and giving them new life and purpose.

Ability to keep trying to understand things without getting frustrated or giving up. (But it is OK to admit you've had enough for one day, go work on something else, and then pick back up the next day.) Desire to keep learning day after day and month after month.

Motivation to do a better and better job every day.

Have the courage to admit you don't understand something, and the honesty to admit you have made a mistake or screwed something up. (That's no big deal—we'll work together on fixing it! I have never fired or reprimanded someone for making mistakes.)

Ability to show up for work, on time, five days a week.

Desirable Attributes:

Basic knowledge of passive and active electronics components, (IE what resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, logic gates, etc. are and what they do.)

Basic understanding of Ohm's law, and how resistance, voltage, current and power relate to each other.

Basic familiarity with electronic circuit schematic symbols.

Work hours: 8am to 5pm M-F (40 hour week) with little to no overtime, and no weekends. We can give some flexibility to the hours depending on class schedule, child care, commute distance, and whether you prefer to start work early or late. If this job interests you, but you cannot work full time due to your school course load, we will try to accommodate you.

Pay Rate: Hourly, $17.50 to $20.00 per hour depending on qualifications. $2.50/hour raise after 6 months. Paid sick days from initial hiring. Paid holidays after 6 months. Paid vacations after 1 year. No benefits are currently offered to any employees. Proof of Covid-19 vaccination required.

How To Apply: Send resume through our contact form. I don't care what you your work experience is, but do want to see if you have worked. I also want to see if you can write a complete sentence and run a spell checker on your work, lol. So, I expect you to write your own resume, and not pay someone to do it.

No phone calls. All resumes will be read and replied to. Also, we may break this job into two separate positions, one for electronics work and the other for shipping, receiving and misc. shop jobs. As it stands now, there are three of us here and we all do a wide variety of jobs.

Bonus Points for Applicants: Have something that goes fast and makes noise. Own a car or motorcycle with performance upgrades. Speak a foreign language or be from another country. Have a hobby or interest that you love to do. Do any sort of volunteer or community service work.
